Welcome back! I trust you have all enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer break. We welcome you all back to Pedmore, and welcome all our new children and families for what promises to be an exciting and rewarding year.

There is something particularly special about the start of a new school year – new beginnings, renewed purpose and the anticipation (and in some cases, nervousness) of all that lies ahead. Remember that we will all be with you every step of the way.

I look forward to working with you all as we embark upon another successful year at Pedmore CE Primary.

Have a great weekend!

Happy News

This was the last Happy News before the summer break, which we didn’t send out to you all. It has some news about the first musical motorway, and can be found here.

Attendance

Our overall attendance over the past year was slightly higher than the year before, which is great news. Thank you to you all for your efforts in us achieving this. We are still lower than we were pre-Covid, and we will still strive to ensure our attendance figures continue to improve.

2023-24 whole school attendance – 94.9%

2024-25 whole school attendance – 95.6%

Meet the Teacher

There will be meet the teacher meetings for every year group except Reception on Tuesday 9 September at 3:45pm. They will be held in each classroom and will last around 20 minutes. Anyone who can’t make the meetings, or if you have children in different classes, will be able to access the Powerpoint slides through the school website afterwards.

Safeguarding Information

Should you have any concerns around any safeguarding issues, or have something you feel you need to report, then please contact school and ask to speak to a safeguarding lead. That would either be myself or Mrs Dowen most likely, but there are other staff members who you could speak to if we weren’t in school. Lots of information around safeguarding can be found on this page on our website.

Forest School

I hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed the beautiful weather we had.

Next week we are back to forest school and Year 2 will be kicking off the year with their sessions.

Over the summer we have given the site a bit of a revamp and thanks to the money that was raised after the break in’s last term we have been able to purchase some more equipment and now have a forest school shop, a better woodland library and a sensory station.  Thank you so much if you donated.

Sadly we had a further break in at the beginning of the summer but fortunately  no real damage.  Since then my husband has increased our security with raising the fence and also added anti-climbing paint to the gate. If you do live close to the field, please do continue to be vigilant for us, call the police and then let me know  if you see anyone in the field who shouldn’t be there.

As the weather changes, we need to make sure that the children are appropriately dressed for forest school with plenty of layers and waterproof coats and wellies.  Please see the attached flyer below as a guide.

Outside of school hours I do offer events over the holidays and at weekends. I have been fortunate to receive some funding through my Community Interest Company -The Fine Collective to provide some sessions over the year for children with SEND and their families. They will be monthly sessions on a Saturday morning. If your child has SEND ( special educational needs and disabilities) and you want to attend please follow the link below for booking and further information. The sessions are fully funded but there is an option to pay as you can.  Any funds raised will fund further sessions. They are open to children from Stourbridge but places are limited so do book early.

If you have any questions or queries around forest school, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Look forward to seeing you soon.
