The school curriculum at Pedmore is based on the National Curriculum, and develops skills and knowledge across school. Please click on the following links if you require more information, or look at the tabs below.
Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum with subjects being taught both discretely and as part of carefully planned topics. We plan to give a holistic approach to learning, sometimes led by children’s interests, whilst at the same time ensuring the development of individual subject skills and knowledge.
Children are taught as a whole class with both group, paired and individual work also widely used. We are developing a mastery approach in all subjects, teaching to all with high expectations. Children are then supported or challenged within this approach based on formative assessment by the teacher.
Whilst Reading and Writing are interwoevn in much of the English work we do, we do teach aspects of each area individually.
You can see our English overviews below:
In R.E. we follow the Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus. Details can be seen below.
Welcome to Reception!
Our days in Reception are all about Learning Through Play.
We want all the children to be happy, confident, independent learners who enjoy their time in school.
We look at different topics throughout the year and aim to follow the interests of the children too. Some of the topics we cover may include:
- Favourite books
- ‘Ourselves’ including how to be healthy
- ‘Our Wonderful World’
- And so much more!
We teach phonics using Letters and Sounds and we teach handwriting using the Kinetic Letters scheme. Both of these we teach daily.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework and the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.
