It’s half term! Short newsletter this week. I hope you all have a wonderful half term break, whatever you are doing. We look forward to seeing you back on Monday 2nd June.

Attendance

Well done to Reception, this week’s attendance winners!

Stourbridge Day of Dance

Forest School

It’s been a busy half term in forest school.  We have been blessed with the weather and this time of year certainly makes my job one of the best!

Year 3 finished their sessions yesterday and they certainly have enjoyed lots of muddy fun over the weeks.  They have also been great performers on the stage as well as some of the best den builders.

Year 4 have waited a long time for their sessions and I think they have asked me most weeks over the year when is their turn to come to forest school.  But this week we had our first session.  They were so happy to be back. The team work, imaginative play, creativity and joy on their faces was wonderful to see. I am so privileged to witness the happiness of the children playing in forest school.  Whatever their age, the freedom to choose and lead their own way is so important to them. I can’t wait to see what they get up to over the next few weeks.

I am passionate about ensuring that I provide the best I can for your children, so like every year, after half term I shall also be sending out a questionnaire about the forest school provision at Pedmore.  I would be really grateful if you could complete it for me and give me your feedback so I can reflect on my practice and make any necessary changes.

Holiday Provision

Half term family day

On Thursday of half term I have a family day for all ages to attend.  There are 2 sessions 10-12 or 1-3pm  Lots of activites for everyone to enjoy, pizza and smores from the fire. Please see link below to book your places.

Holiday Clubs

During the summer holidays there will be several days of drop off holiday clubs. With either a full or half day option, children can come and play in the woods, learn new skills, cook on the fire and have lots of fun. The clubs are open to everyone, so please share with friends and family of children in other schools.  Link below for booking and details.

Family Fest

In the first week of the summer holidays, we shall be having our first family festival. We have an amazing storyteller, Danny English, who will captivate children and adults alike in the wonder of story. Joining Danny, Beth will add in some song and get everyone finding their voice.

Plus the forest school will be open with all the usual play opportunities, there will be nature crafts, junk modelling, face painting, water play, smores on the fire and much more.  Mary Stevens Hospice will also be joining us with their ice cream cart and you are welcome to bring your own picnics, blankets and chill for the day.   Again see the link below for booking details.

With just one price for entry and no added extras ( except ice cream from MSH) I hope it will be a fun family day where you can gather with friends, children can play safely and is inclusive for everyone.

Please see this link for information for all events and booking. https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/fruits-of-the-forest

Children Charity Champions.

Uganda

Tomorrow, Anna- my daugther travels to Uganda to be part of a team completing either their half or full marathon as well spending the week working with the community.  She will be working in the schools, helping to organise a sports day for the children, helping to create vegetable gardens and generally supporting the local community, before she starts running.

She will be coming into school today to meet the school council and collect the donations they have brought in for her to take over to Uganda.

Huge thank you for your support and she will be back in school after half term sharing with the children her experience with them.

Many thanks for your continued support for the work that we do at Pedmore.

I hope you have a lovely half term and the sun continues to shine.
