I just wanted to update you on the ParentMail issue we faced earlier today.

As you are aware, a link was sent out from ParentMail asking parents (and staff) to sign up to link to another school. This automated message was sent in error. We, as a school, have just changed our Management Information System and therefore we had to re-link our information with ParentMail. Due to human error on the part of ParentMail, a link to the wrong school was sent out. This has now been corrected and we will not need to do this procedure again.

No data has been lost and no data is in the public domain. Some data, parent names and emails, was shared with another educational establishment and all of this data has been deleted by the other school. We have had confirmation of this by the school involved. We acted promptly to investigate the issue and have reported the issue to Dudley’s Data Protection & Information Governance Manager, who has clarified that the correct actions were taken and is satisfied no sensitive data has been compromised.

I’d like to apologise that this situation has occurred, and would like to reassure you that no sensitive data has been lost or shared, and any data that was shared with the school in question has now been deleted by them.
