"Love one another, as I have loved you." John 13:34

It’s the end of another week and we have a few more things to tell you about than we did last week, so please read on! I hope you enjoy a good weekend and manage to have some chill-out time; this is a longer-than-normal spring half term and I think some of the children are beginning to tire…I know many of the staff are too! There’s a joke of the week at the bottom too…promise to make them as cheesy as possible.

Dressing Up Day 14th February

Monday 14th February is the start of our Black Country Week in school. We are launching the week by having a ‘dressing up day’ in school on that Monday. If you would like your child to dress up on that day, then we are focusing on any costume that could represent the Black Country. Most people, previously, have focused on what children may have worn in years gone by, Victorian-era type clothing. Two of the photographs on the slideshow on our school website were taken on a previous Black Country day. However, this is not compulsory at all. Please don’t think you have to go out and buy anything – that’s not what we want. If you don’t want your child to come dressed up, then just send them into school in their normal school uniform.

Dogs in school grounds

School policy is that we don’t allow dogs on the school site. Please make sure you don’t bring your dog onto the school site to collect your child at the end of the day. This includes collecting from after-school club too. Thank you.

earrings and pe kits

On P.E. days, please take your child’s earrings out if they can’t do that themselves. Also, a reminder that P.E. kit still follows our school uniform. If you are unsure, please see that here. Thank you.

plastic water bottles

We are requesting that children come into school with plastic water bottles, with a sports cap. This is something that was always expected as they are the safest water bottles to have in school. Many children are now bringing metal water bottles, which just have a screw cap, and it is causing problems in classrooms when they get knocked over. Please send your child with a plastic water bottle with a sports cap. I appreciate you may not have one currently, so we will be looking to implement this after half term to allow you time to sort a different bottle out, if you need to. Currently, children can keep their water bottles with them on their tables. They will still be able to do this if they bring a sports-top plastic bottle in with them. Any other type of bottles will have to be kept away from tables after half term. Thank you for your support in this.

parents’ evenings

Our parents’ evenings this term are taking place just after half term. After reviewing your feedback after the last parents’ evenings, where we asked what your preferences were to online or in-person, we are offering the choice of either. The majority of respondents wanted to keep with the virtual parents’ evenings, but there were some parents who preferred the in-person if possible. Therefore, we are offering one night virtual, one night in-person. Please only book one or the other. Each appointment will be on a first-come, first-served basis and we will let you know when you will be able to book a slot. You will need to make sure your ParentMail details are up-to-date beforehand; again, we will send out details on this over the next week or so. The two dates are as follows:

Tuesday 1st March. 3:45pm – 6:15pm. In-person.

Wednesday 2nd March. 4:15pm -7:00pm. Virtual through TEAMS.

Joke of the Week

Two ants playing football in a saucer. One ant says to the other, “We’d better get some extra practice in today.” The other ant asked, “Why?” He replied, “We’re playing in the cup tomorrow.” ?
