Good news – we have had a good week at Pedmore CE Primary! It has been great to see the enthusiasm of our children as they have engaged in their learning this week. Ask them about what we have been learning in worship this week and last…ask them if they can ‘act out’ something to you and how it makes you feel, and how it makes them feel!

I hope you all have a good weekend and we’ll see you all again next week.

Attendance

We have told the children this week about our new attendance awards and rewards. They were very excited today when they found out who the class attendance winners were for this week. You can found out who that was below. This is how our new attendance awards will work over the coming year:

These awards will be given every half term:

A bronze attendance badge will be given for any child who gets 100% attendance for the half term

A silver attendance badge will be given for any child with a bronze badge who then gets 100% for another half term.

A gold attendance badge will be given for any child with a silver badge who then gets 100% for another half term.

Any child who then gets 100% in another half term gets a ‘scratch card’ for a mystery prize from the attendance reward box. This can happen for the rest of the year if any child continues to get 100%.

You don’t have to get 100% in consecutive half terms to get a silver or above – there are 6 half terms per year.

Alongside this, there will be weekly attendance rewards of extra break times for the winning class that week, and special awards for any child who gets excellent attendance (100%) for the whole year. Obviously, there may be times when a child has an unavoidable absence due to hospital appointments etc. These will be taken into account when calculating attendance. Thank you for your support.

Further information about our attendance policy, and how much learning is missed when children are away from school, can be found on our website. Attendance.

Nut Free School

Please DO NOT send your child to school with any food containing nuts. This week we have had Nutella on sandwiches, and Snickers bars in children’s lunchboxes. We have children, and staff, in school with severe nut allergies. If it is noticed your child has any food containing nuts in their lunchbox, you will receive a slip reminding you not to send these in. Thank you.

Kids Clothes Project

We are thrilled to tell you that we now have a donation bin for The Kids Clothesproject in the school reception.

When you are having a clear out of your children’s outgrown clothes, please consider donating them to this project who provide clothing for children in need across the Black Country. They accept good quality preloved clothes, toys and books that are suitable for children aged 2-12.

The Kids Clothes Project has been running for 4 years and has so far helped over 1200 children across the Black Country. Children are provided with a generous parcel including 7 of each of the following items: Jumpers; T-shirts; trousers; and new underwear. Additional items include shoes, coats, pyjamas, dresses, swimwear, books and soft toys.

We would also like to make all families aware that we are able to make this support available to you if you find you are struggling to clothe your children, or would appreciate an extra hand. Please speak to Mr Dunn if you would like to be referred.

If you’d like to know more about the Kids Clothes Project, or you would like to donate financially or volunteer your time to help, please see: www.kidsclothesproject.co.uk

Hedgehog Fundraising Update

Thanks to all your generous donations, the hedgehog fundraising event raised over £120.00! Well done to all involved. There were some children who didn’t get the correct change – if that was your child please contact us at school.
