Happy New Year! Seems a bit late to be saying that now seeing as we’re half way through January…I hope you all had a great break over the Christmas holiday. Children have come back to school and thrown themselves back into their learning which is great to see. We have parents’ evenings and book drop-ins coming up this term so keep your eyes peeled for those dates when they come out. See you soon.

Bracelet Sale

As you may be aware, Emi in Year 3 made and sold some bracelets (example above) at the Christmas fayre to raise money for Acorns Hospice, the charity we are supporting this year. She has around 20 left and would like to sell them all so she can give the rest of the money to Acorns. She will be selling them on the playground at break time next Wednesday (22nd). They will be on sale for £1.00 each. If you would like to support her in this venture please send your child in with £1.00 on Wednesday. Thank you for your support.

Forest School
We were back in the woods this week, despite the cold!
I try to plan it so that the older children are out in the winter and Year 6 got stuck in!
Whatever our age, we all love to play outside and they certainly had some great games going on as well as crafting and children lighting little fires and making toast for everyone.
We also got them doing some jobs and they helped move the wood delivery to the log store!
Getting outside certainly helps these children who are working so hard in readiness for their SATs.
Children Charity Champions
As you know we are currently fundraising for Acorns Children’s Hospice and thus far we have raised just under £1500! Huge thank you for your donations at the Christmas events in school. I was able to double our donations by getting our funds to the hospice as part of their Big Give campaign.
We are continuing to fundraise for Acorns until Easter and this week I met the school council to discuss their ideas.
They are such amazing children with brilliant ideas.
So here’s a heads up with what is coming…..
6th Feb – 6th March ( World Book Day) A sponsored readathon
Children are sponsored to read as many books, newspapers or magazines in a month. It can be anything as long as they are reading! Sponsor ship can be anything family and friends feel
appropriate.
We shall also have a poster competition , where children create a poster about their reads! It can be anything they wish it to be and prizes for KS1 and KS2 child! – more details to come!
Easter Bake Off!
Children can enter a competition to enter a homemade Easter themed cake/s/ biscuits. We will then have a cake sale at the end of the school day at the end of term! Dates to be finalised! But get your thinking caps on
