It’s that Friday time again, and it’s been a challenging week (for a change!) in school with lots of positive cases. Thankfully, none have been serious and we wish everyone a speedy recovery. As you are aware, the isolation rules have changed, and there are indications that they may go altogether before Easter, so please have a look at the visual below which hopefully makes things clearer.

SEND Inspection in Dudley
Dudley Local Authority have been informed that they will receive an Ofsted visit inspecting their SEND provision in the borough. We have been asked to share these letters with you.
White rose Maths app
White Rose maths, which is the approach we use in school, have released a Maths app, predominantly for use by children in Reception and KS1.

From White Rose Maths: Free to download for teachers, parents and pupils.
Designed for use both in class and at home, our new 1-Minute Maths app helps children build greater number confidence and fluency. It’s all about targeted practice in engaging, one-minute chunks! This first version of the app is aimed at Key Stage 1 pupils and focuses on adding and subtracting – and on ‘Subitising’ (the ability to recognise the number of objects in a small group without having to count them). The free mobile app is available for Apple/IOS, Android and Kindle.
Children can choose any topic they want to try. They then answer a unique series of questions (so it’s a different set of questions every time). If they’re struggling with a question, a ‘Hint’ button will give a helpful clue by showing the question in a different but familiar way.
When the one minute’s up, they’ll see a feedback screen telling them how they’ve done.
The App is available for Apple/IOS, Android and Kindle. Please search the appropriate app store.
Survey by Loughborough University
“Loughborough University have a nationwide research project where they are looking to capture information about young children’s experiences with money and parental attitudes around children’s learning about money and finances. Levels of financial capability are lower in the UK than in other comparable countries, and we know that conversations between parents and children about money are an important contributor to higher levels of financial capability in later life. This survey represents an important step in our work to develop better ways to support parents to have these kinds of conversations. Parents can complete the survey on any device with an internet connection and it should take around 5 to 10 minutes. Each participant will have the option to submit their email address to be entered for a prize draw for one of three Amazon vouchers worth £100, £50 and £25.” You can see the letter here.
The link to the survey is here and only takes a few minutes.
