Here we are again at the end of another school year at Pedmore CE Primary School. I wanted to take a moment to say a big ‘thank you’ for your continued support and partnership throughout this year.
It has been a year filled with happiness, learning and memorable experiences for our children, and your support has helped all of these tremendously. Your involvement in your child’s education, whether it be through attending parents’ evenings, supporting workshops, supporting PTA events or supporting them with their homework, has really helped us as a school as well as your children.
I would also like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the staff at school for their tireless efforts all year doing what they think is right for every child in their care.
Thank you once again and I look forward to welcoming you all back for the start of a new and exciting school year in September.
Goodbyes
We’ve had an emotional day today at school saying goodbye. We’ve said goodbye to our Year 6 pupils, who are moving on to their next exciting chapter, and also to Miss Hall and Miss Troth. They have both given such a lot to school and to the children they have taught and they will be greatly missed.
Thank You
Once again, a massive thank you to everyone who has given gifts to staff in school. These are never expected and I am always humbled by your generosity. Thank you all.
Parent Survey
Thank you to those of you who have completed our parent survey. There is still a chance to do so if you haven’t yet. The link is here.
Class Photographs
Please see the ParentMail received today for details about how to access your child’s class photograph.
Forest School
So that’s a wrap for forest school for this academic year and what a busy half term it’s been.
Year 3 and 4 have had their sessions and they have achieved so much, many now competent fire lighters, some becoming better at knots, lots being so creative and so many great performances. Children told me that forest school makes them feel calm, they love the freedom to play and to be able to choose what they do as well as gain more knowledge about nature.
Year 6 have celebrated their last session today with spending all day outside, enjoying hot dogs on the fire and have one last chance to do all their favourite things!
Forest School Evaluation
Many thanks to everyone who completed my questionnaire. Here’s a snippet of what was said.
* 91% said that children enjoyed forest school
* 75% said that they had an increase interest in nature
* 78% siad their children had learnt new skills
*100% said forest school was safe
* 98.5% said children had told them what they had done in forest school.
* 100% said they want forest school to continue with 85% saying they would like more Forest School for their children.
Plus there were lots of positive comments on how you think forest school impacts on your child and how you value the importance of child led play.
I am very grateful for all the lovely comments, it really does help me evaluate and reflect on my practice. I feel so privileged to be able to teach the children at Pedmore. Over the last 12 years I have been so fortunate to see so many children grow and flourish.
Over the summer holidays there is still lots going on in the woods, with both holiday clubs and family days. For more information and booking please follow this link https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/fruits-of-the-forest
Have a lovely summer and I look forward to seeing you in September.
