An Update Regarding Latest Government Announcement
"Love one another, as I have loved you." John 13:34

So, I’m sitting here typing this after this evening’s Government Announcement, feeling a range of emotions, and probably feeling as confused as many of you are. All of those thoughts and feelings are raw at the moment, for all of us, and many of you will have strong feelings about what you heard.

You will have heard that the Government, as part of its phased plan, will re-open schools for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, providing things carry on in the same direction as they are heading at the moment, on June 1st. This plan, it says, will remain under constant review.

I suspect that for many of you, any anxieties will not have been allayed by the Government’s announcement and they may have been made worse. We all want our schools to be open as soon as it is safe – we do not want the classrooms to be empty for any longer than they need to be. However, our first, and only, consideration has to be the safety of our whole school community.

Any plan to increase the numbers of children in school has to be both practical and manageable and this is something we will be looking for clarification about in the coming days. Just like you, we have only just seen the announcement and that at this moment in time I will not, unfortunately, be able to answer all of your questions. We are waiting to receive more information from the Government about what this means for school. Please remember, nothing has changed in the short-term and we will provide further information in the coming days as soon as we hear anything ourselves.

It would be helpful to us if you could please complete this short survey if you have children in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6.

Once again, thank you enormously for all your continued support. The next post I will make sure is much more positive!

Until then…

Take Care and Stay Safe
