A Great First Week!
"Love one another, as I have loved you." John 13:34

We have had a great first week back in school. It’s been wonderful to see so many happy children and to see them being able to mix more with others. There was a big cheer from a class on Monday, as I was walking past, because they had just found out that they were having their lunch with others in the dining hall and that there were other classes on the playground at break and lunchtime who they could mix with. Sometimes it’s easy to forget how those type of things are so important to children. And we had a little bit of sunshine to welcome us back too! ☀️

Thank You

Thank you to all of you for supporting us during the first week back, with some changes to drop-off and pick-up. I know there have been a few teething issues but overall things have gone well. Children are into classes quicker and calmer and we have had fewer tears when leaving mums and dads too. Obviously, we will keep an eye on how things are going and make any changes that we feel necessary.

Can I just remind everyone to wait on the field if the school gates aren’t open and to queue (if needed) on the opposite side to the houses on the bridle path so the residents can still have access to their drives. Also, remember that there are some adults and children who are not dog lovers so please don’t congregate around entrances with your dog. I appreciate that some of you walk your dog down the bridle path with your child, but dogs still aren’t allowed on the school site and we would ask that you are considerate of others around entrances.

Thank you.

Behaviour and Values

We have revisited our rules in school to make them easier for all of us to use and understand. We now have three school rules – Ready, Respect, Safe. We have shared these with the children so please have a chat to them about what they mean. We will be using these three rules when we talk to children about behaviour and when we have fully updated our behaviour policy we will share that with you also as there are some changes to our rewards and consequence system too.

We have also reminded our children about our core school values of Happiness, Respect, Trust & Compassion and our virtual assemblies and class assemblies will be focused on these over the coming weeks.

School Photographs

Next Thursday (16th September) is photographs morning. Each class will go into the hall and children will have their photographs taken. We won’t be able to have any photographs taken with siblings who do not come to our school, as we have been able to do previously. This includes pre-school. Due to arrangements around times and changes in procedures for the photographer, the morning will be structured as below:

Year 6 and Reception – each child will have an individual photograph and a photograph with their sibling (if they have one in school)

Years 1-5 – each child will have an individual photo if they don’t have a sibling in school, OR a photo with their sibling if they do have a sibling in school. There won’t be an opportunity for both this time.

You will receive a consent form through ParentMail today. Please ensure this is completed as no photographs can be taken without it.

Lunchboxes

Can I please just remind everyone that we are a nut-free school due to children in school having allergies, some of them severe. There have been a couple of times this week where we have noticed children bring food that contains nuts in their lunchbox. Please ensure that this doesn’t happen so we can keep all of our children safe.

Thank you.
