It’s been a while since a newsletter, due mainly to a few issues we were having with the back end of the website. Hopefully these are sorted now and we’ll have some website updates for you in the coming weeks.
I hope you all had a good half term break and managed some quality family time together.
Have a great weekend.

NEWS
Swimming Pool
As you are aware, we had the swimming pool on site for the two weeks before half term. Year 4 swam every day, for around 30-40 minutes, and Year 5&6 had some children who took some extra swimming lessons too.
We saw some fantastic progress from all of the children involved and lots of positive feedback. It is certainly better to have regualr, intense daily swimming sessions for children than to have half an hour once a week at a local pool. We will be continuing with the pool coming to site in the future.
School Meals
Please make sure that you order your child’s meal, through ParentPay, in advance. We are having a number of children who are coming through the lunch hall without a meal being booked for them which causes issues with the amount of meals available/being cooked. I appreciate that sometimes we forget these things – that’s understandable.

Black Country Foodbank
To all at Pedmore CofE Primary School,
Thank you very much for choosing to support Black Country Foodbank with your Harvest collection this year. All the food collected and donated will go towards helping those in your community who are in crisis.
You collected and donated 170kgs of food and 21.4kgs of non-food, an amazing amount.
Once again, many thanks for your support.

Talking About AI With Children
Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly familiar part of children’s lives, whether that’s through chatbots, homework tools, games or the apps they use every day.
As AI becomes more common, it’s important that children understand both what it can do and where its limitations lie.
Internet Matters has produced a useful Talking About AI guide for families, with age-appropriate conversation starters and activities to help parents explore AI with their children. The guide encourages families to talk about how AI works, question the information it produces, consider privacy and develop healthy habits when using AI tools.
It’s a practical resource for parents who may not feel particularly confident about AI themselves but want to help their children use it safely and responsibly.
