Hugh's Joke

Hugh, in Year 4, wanted to share a joke with you all…

Why did the banana go to the doctor’s?

Because it wasn’t peeling very well…

Uniform & Jewellery

A quick reminder that all earrings worn by children in school must be studs. No hoops are allowed for safety reasons. In P.E., all jewellery needs to be removed.

Also, can any uniform donations please be ones with the new logo? We have lots of uniform so PTA are having to streamline what they are collecting! Thanks for your support.

Thank you

Parking Safety Incident

Here’s a copy of the ParentMail we sent out earlier this week:

Earlier this week, one of our pupils was involved in a minor incident with a vehicle in the vicinity of our school. A car reversing from in front of the corner shop/post office hit one of our pupils. The child then had to be pulled out of the way whilst the car continued reversing out onto the main road. Thankfully, the child was not injured. The car did have pupils from Pedmore in it, but we are unaware of who they were or who the driver was. We have reported this incident to the police.

We ask for your support in the following ways, and a reminder for when dropping off and picking up:

· Please ensure you park considerately and legally, respecting designated parking areas and the needs of other families

· Where possible, please consider walking or cycling to school (bikes can be left in the bike shelter at the top of the school field)

· If you do drive, please reduce speed in the school vicinity and remain alert to children crossing roads or moving between parked vehicles

· Please supervise your child closely when arriving at and leaving school, particularly in car parks and on nearby roads

If you have any concerns about parking or road safety near the school, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Mr Dunn

World Book Day

A reminder that we are celebrating World Book Day next Thursday, 5 March. We will have a rnage of activities going on throughout the day.

Children have the option of coming to school either dressed as a book character or, as we have done in previous years, as an adjective.

In addition to this, we are asking children to bring in a book of their choice (ideally a favourite of theirs) for an activity that will be taking place throughout the day – Stop, Drop & Read.

It’s going to be a really fun day for all!

Illness

Although we are through the worst of winter (hopefully!) there are still lots of bugs going around. We have had a number of children off ill this week with sickness and/or diarrhoea.

Please remind children as often as you can about the importance of regular hand washing, and please remember it is 48 hours from the last bout before children can return to school.

Thank you.

Mental Heath Week

We did a lot of work across school for Mental Health week.

You can see some work below based around what it means to be a good freind, and where we feel a sense of belonging. Scroll through the images below for a better idea!

SAFEGUARDING

For Parents – Tips for Raising Digitally Resilient Children

Every parent knows how difficult it is to monitor their children whilst they’re online. It can be difficult asking children what they’re seeing, their motives, healthy screen habits and more.

Written by a clinical psychologist, BBC Bitesize have released some new advice and support for parents. Although aimed at parents of teenagers, this would be useful for any parent.

Song Concerns

It has been brought to our attention that some of the older children, girls mainly, have been singing a song popular through YouTube. The song is called Prom Queen. The lyrics to the song are heavily based around body image and what is considered ‘pretty’, or attainable. Whilst there are many songs that have questionable lyrics, we would have some concern that this song in particular might lead to children researching or looking for other similar content.

If you hear your child singing this song, or are aware of them having seen it online, it would be worth having a chat with them about the lyrics.
