Welcome to this week’s newsletter. Tonight is our Christmas fayre. The PTA have been working hard to get everything ready…the school hall, the car park and the Year 3 classroom are all being transformed! There will be a variety of stalls offering an array of delightful treats; there will also be games, raffles, and a visit from a very special guest – Santa Claus himself!
This event, starting at 4:40pm, not only promises a fun-filled evening for the whole family, but it also serves as an opportunity to support our school and raise funds for important resources and activities that benefit our children’s education. Look forward to seeing you there!
Talking to Your Children about Online Activities
Mr Birchwood, a parent at school, along with some of his research colleagues, has been working with parents and children around online activities. You can read more here, and get some advice and tips here.
Worship Council Competition
The festivities are almost beginning at school and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a competition being led by Worship Council. We are asking all of the children, if they can, to make a Christmas decoration out of gingerbread. The decoration needs to be shaped or decorated in a way that represents/links to our school. For example, you could do a P for Pedmore. Or perhaps some gingerbread people holding hands representing friendship and love. You might perhaps do a cross. Perhaps you could make a gingerbread person who is dressed in the school uniform or one that looks like Mr Dunn or Mrs Dowen! If you make the gingerbread fresh, could we ask you leave a little hole for the ribbon but shop bought gingerbread will be a great entry too. Entries need to be handed in to class teachers, who will pass them onto Worship Council, by Monday 27th November. Worship Council will then choose the best design from KS1 and 1 from KS2 and give them a prize in our Assembly on Friday. All of the entries will be displayed either on the tree at St Peter’s or on our school tree. You can also go and view this Christmas tree, along with about 30 others, at St Peter’s church between Friday 1st December and Sunday 3rd December. There will be refreshments, a tombola and a visit from Santa on the Saturday.
Please help us to make a wonderful smelling and creative tree that represents our school by getting baking! If you have any questions or queries please see myself, Miss Hall or the children can speak to any of the Worship Council. Many thanks for your continued support.
Kindest regards
Mrs Newbold, Miss Hall and the Worship Council
AiP Catering Survey
Here is a link for a survey sent by our catering company, AiP. Please take a couple of minutes to complete this with your child. This link will be open and available until Friday 1st December 2023.
Mrs Hadley
Mrs Hadley, one of our learning support assistants who has been at Pedmore for many years, is leaving next week for pastures new. We would like to thank her for everything she has done at Pedmore, and wish her all the very best for the future. Her last day in school will be Thursday 30th November. If anyone would like to put towards a collection, please see Mrs Perry in the school office. Thank you.
Parking
Again, we are having to ask people not to park on the zigzags outside the school gates. Please be considerate and think of others.
