Dear Parents/Carers,
I just wanted to clarify a couple of points we’ve received questions about.
When a child in school is showing one of the three main symptoms of Covid-19, loss of taste or smell, high temperature or persistent cough, we will call you and ask you to collect your child and take them for a PCR test. You would then keep your child at home in isolation until a test result was received.
If a child in school is showing one of the wider symptoms identified, i.e. runny nose, sore throat, diarrhoea, sickness (please see previous letter for full list), then we will call you and ask you to take your child for a PCR test. Public Health England are saying that if your child is showing one of the wider symptoms, they can still come to school, providing they are well enough, whilst waiting for the test result to come back. However, we are asking, as a school, that you keep your child away from school until a test result comes back. This will reduce the chance of infection spread should the result come back positive.
I appreciate this is difficult and the guidance from Public Health is a little confusing. I hope this update has helped to clarify school’s position.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Thank you
Mr Dunn
