The weather today is much better than it was last week…the sun is out as I write this, and everything is much better when the sun is out! We are racing towards half term and, contrary to what you may have read or heard in the media, we have not been informed of any government plans to make it into a two-week half term, and I would think it’s too late for them to make that decision now. As usual, there’s a few bits of information to share with you. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Park Safe Campaign
The Police’s Park Safe campaign has been going for a week now and many local schools have had parents report illegal parking. The owners of the cars have been prosecuted by police. Thankfully that isn’t something that’s happened around our school – here’s to hoping it never does! If you haven’t read the letter, it’s linked below:
School Ambassadors
Over the past week we have been collecting applications and doing interviews for our new Year 6 School Ambassadors. Yesterday Mrs Bird and I interviewed Year 6 pupils and talked to them about why they wanted to be Ambassadors. We were both incredibly humbled by their maturity and how well they conducted themselves. Yesterday, and today, we have agonised and discussed who would received the positions and I can genuinely say it was an incredibly difficult decision. There were 18 children who put in applications for one of the roles and every one of them had so much to offer. We eventually settled on 10: two Gold Ambassadors and eight Ambassadors and I gave them the news this afternoon. Obviously, there are some very happy Year 6 children and some disappointed Year 6 children but they can all be very proud of themselves and the way they have conducted themselves over the past week. Well done to you all.
Name Items of Clothing
We have already accumulated a few items of clothing that we cannot return to children as they have no names in. Please ensure that all of your child’s clothing is labelled. Thank you.
Parents’ Evenings
Thank you to everyone who participated in our virtual parents’ evenings this week. I fully appreciate it’s not ideal doing them in this way and I know some of you experienced technical difficulties and appointments running late. I would like to thank you for bearing with us and helping us to iron out an issues. We don’t know what the future holds in terms of meetings like parents’ evenings, but we will ensure that we have opportunities to speak to you in whatever way we need to.
Safeguarding Policy
There have been some updates to our Child Protection policies which can be found here.
National Online Safety Guides
On the E-Safety page on the website there is a new link to advice sheets from National Online Safety. They are well worth a read and cover many online topics including advice about apps, games, game consoles and social media sites.
Home Learning Plan
As part of our ongoing review of procedures, please read the following document regarding any home learning if a child, or group of children, are self-isolating at home. This is our initial plan, and may change or develop over time. You can read the plan here.
NHS Covid-19 App Information
We have received the following from Dudley LA.
We are aware that members of the public have received notifications on their phone about “COVID-19 exposure logging”, “COVID-19 exposure notifications” or “possible COVID-19 exposure”. These are default messages from Apple and Google, rather than from the NHS Covid-19 App and no action needs to be taken.
Please see the NHS Covid-19 App support pages for full details. Individuals only need to take action if they get a notification directly from the NHS Covid-19 App.
The message from the app will read:“The app has detected that you have been in contact with someone who has coronavirus. Please stay at home and self-isolate to keep yourself and others safe.”
