We’re at the end of another week and I’d like to thank you again for following our school routines and procedures – it really does help us to keep everyone safe and keep school running smoothly!
Fleeces
The weather has turned a little this week, as I’m sure you know (!), and the temperature has dropped considerably. As we are having to keep windows and doors open most of the time it can get a little cold! If you have a fleece, either a dark blue or black, please send that in with your child so they have an ‘extra layer’ should they need it. We will be looking at the whole ‘open window’ situation as the weather gets colder and look at what will be the best way forward. We need to strike a balance between fresh air entering the school from outside and the H&S requirements under the Education School Premises Regulations, which sets out minimum room temperatures for schools and the activities it undertakes, and the Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations which set out minimum temperatures for work places.
Census Day
Next Thursday, 1st October, is one of the school census days. This is one of the days where they count how many children in Reception and KS1 take up the offer of a Universal Free School Meal, and we get funded for the whole year based on numbers that day. I would urge you to please, please, please take a meal next Thursday, even if it’s only for that one day. A few extra children on that one day can be worth thousands to us over the course of the year. Thank you.
Parents’ Evenings
We cannot do our usual parents’ evenings this time due to only having essential visitors in school. Instead, we are going to offer a virtual TEAMS meeting, with your child’s class teacher, one evening in the week beginning 5th October. Each meeting will only be for 5 minutes and will be a quick catch-up on how your child has settled into school. We will be asking you to sign up for a specific slot in the usual way NEXT WEDNESDAY (30th September), so please make sure your ParentMail details are up-to-date. If you have any issues, please contact the school office.
Monday 5th October – Year 4
Tuesday 6th October – Year 1; Year 5
Wednesday 7th October – Year 2; Year 3; Year 6.
There are no meetings for Reception at the moment.
Individual School Photos
On Monday 5th October we are offering you the chance to have an individual school photo taken of you child. This is something that we do every year and we have looked at what we can put in place to ensure we can still offer photos in a safe way. We are only offering individual school photos this time – no family or sibling photos. Risk assessments have been evaluated and procedures put in place with the photographer to ensure everything is as safe as possible. You will be sent a consent form which you need to complete by Wednesday 30th September; we are sorry but we won’t be able to have any photographs taken of any child if we do not have consent from yourselves.
