We all hope you’ve had a great (and safe) summer holiday; but we are looking forward to having you all back on Thursday! Although the weather was mixed (no real surprises there) I’m sure you all managed to make the most of things and managed to have a fun time – we look forward to hearing all about it when you return to school.
This is an update and a reminder of the safety procedures in place at school for when you return. The original post, with the links to all the other documentation, can be found here. That will give you the full information about the return to school on Thursday. However, there are some main points that are listed here:
- Children will be in their class ‘bubble’ all day, including for breaks and lunchtimes
- School has stringent hygiene procedures in place, including regular cleaning; hand-washing and sanitising; and social-distancing measures wherever possible
- Children only need to bring minimum things into school: coat, lunchbox (if not having school lunch), a fruit snack (in a small container) for break time and water bottle. NO BAGS/RUCKSACKS WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE BROUGHT INTO SCHOOL
- Lunches are available to be ordered as before
- Reception and KS1 children will have their lunch in the dining hall; KS2 will have their lunch in their classrooms
- We will focus on one of our values, resilience. We cannot meet as a whole school yet, so our assemblies and worship will be a mixture of class-based and streamed get-togethers
- Children do not need to wear face masks in school and we would not recommend them either. Should you feel that you would like to discuss this concerning your child(ren), please contact us at school
- No parents will be allowed onto school premises. All messages need to be either sent to school through email or phoned through to the school office. Please use hscontact@pedmore.dudley.sch.uk for messages to school
- At the moment, we won’t be sending reading books home. We are looking at options for this and will let you know as soon as possible when we have a plan in place
- Instead of PE kits being left in school, and children changing in school, on the days that each class has PE children can come into school already wearing their PE kit. The days for PE are as follows (Reception will be notified at a later date):
- Year 1 – Monday and Tuesday
- Year 2 – Thursday and Friday
- Year 3 – Monday and Thursday
- Year 4 – Monday and Wednesday
- Year 5 – Monday and Tuesday
- Year 6 – Wednesday and Friday
I know there will be many anxious and excited children (and parents) about what this term holds. We will keep you updated with any new developments as soon as we know ourselves and please be assured that we will do everything we can to keep everyone safe in what is a challenging time! We will be spending a lot of time over the coming days helping children to understand and get used to the new routines in school; please let us know if there any specific issues or concerns you have.
We would ask that you help us by sticking to the procedures and routines we have put in place in order that things can go as smoothly as possible. Please bear with us for the first few days (weeks?!) as we iron out any potential snags that creep up on us. A reminder of the entrance and exit times are below:
