Where on earth has the sun gone?! It’s been really cold this week, and I don’t like it. Come back sunshine please…
(from the ParentMail you received yesterday)
Dear Parents/Carers,
The first two weeks back at school for Years 1 & 6, and the first week back for Reception, have gone very well. It’s been wonderful to see so many happy children in school – school buildings should be full of fun and laughter! The procedures we have put in place such as smaller groups; frequent hand washing and sanitising; keeping distance wherever possible; have worked successfully and children have taken to them very well. We will keep you informed as to how things continue over the coming weeks, and of any plans we have concerning other year groups. The government have now said they are not expecting all children to have spent a month in school before the summer holidays, which most schools around the country would not have been able to facilitate anyway. If there are any changes we will obviously let you know.
For those of you who have children in Year 6, 1 or Reception and who may be considering whether to send your child back to school in the coming weeks, please be aware that the current groups have limited capacity to take extra children, due to school meeting social distancing guidelines, wherever possible. It may be the case that later on, should you wish for your child to return, they would be in a separate, smaller group or in extreme cases, we may have to say no as we are full. Hopefully that won’t be the case but I thought it important that you should be aware.
With regard to the Key Workers’ children group, as they still have priority, if this group increases further in numbers it may have a greater impact across school as the weeks progress. On that note, anyone who requires a place in the key workers’ group needs to let Mrs Perry know by Thursday of the week before a place is required. at the latest. This is imperative in order to plan groups and classrooms as it may not be possible for us to offer any further places at short notice once groups are planned.
If you do need to contact school please call the school office on 01384 818955 or email the info address; please do not call or text the school mobile as we are no longer using it due to the office staff being back in school.
As from Monday 15th June 2020, unfortunately, due to very low numbers, the school kitchen will be closed. Therefore, all Year 6 and Key Worker children will need to bring a packed lunch from home and there will be no Universal Free School grab bags available for Reception or Year 1. I am sorry for any inconvenice but there is nothing we can do about this at this time.
Thank you for all of you who are working hard with your children who are still at home; I appreciate how difficult it is to ‘keep going’ with the home learning.
Birmingham Dogs’ Home Competition
A competition for you all!
“I wanted to let you know about an exciting colouring competition which Birmingham Dogs Home has launched for June to celebrate Children’s Art Week . The competition allows children to express their imagination and get creative by drawing the future Mascots for Birmingham Dogs Home.
We are looking for two mascots, a male and a female, who can be brought to life and represent the charity for many years to come. They will be helping to raise awareness of our cause and help children and the local community to stay safe around dogs.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for children across the West Midlands and South Staffordshire to get involved with. We are asking children of all ages to submit their creative drawings to us by the end of June. All entries will be judged by artist Alex Clark, who will have the hardest decision to make. A small donation of £1 is asked for each entry to help with the care of our stray dogs.
The winning entries will also get a very special prize and they get to meet their creations once they are completed.
You can find all the details of the competition here on our website
I have attached the poster and also the Entry Form.
We really hope that your children would like to take part and if you require any further details please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Have fun getting creative!!!”
One Year Old!
Miss Weir wanted to say ‘Hello’ to everyone – she’s back from her maternity leave. And here’s a picture of her little one on his first birthday! What a little cutie!

If anyone has some news to share (and I know there are a couple of you out there!) then please send us the details and we will happily share the good news with everyone.
Take Care and Stay Safe
