Hello Everyone
And the sun is still shining! However, I think that might be changing a little as the week goes on… 🙁
I hope you’re all OK and staying safe. I hope your home learning is going well – in our house we have good days and…not so good days! So please don’t worry if each day isn’t perfect – it certainly isn’t in our house!
There are lots of things to talk about in this edition of the blog: some good and some sad. So…
Pedmore Airwaves
Thank you for listening to the first Pedmore Airwaves show and thank you for the lovely comments you’ve made. There will be another show coming soon; if you have an ideas for the show please let us know! Thank you for the ideas you’ve sent in already – we will certainly be using some of those. If you haven’t listened to the show yet, then you can here.
Challenges
Thank you to everyone who has sent in photographs of everything you’ve been doing at home – there are nearly 200 on the website already! It’s fantastic to see you all and all the staff are loving looking at everything that you are doing. Please keep sending them in.
School Re-Opening
You may have seen media reports and stories about schools preparing to re-open, or dates being given about when we can all return to school. At the moment, school is only open for children of critical key workers, as it has been since the lockdown started. There is NO plan, that schools have been made aware of, for any re-opening of schools at the moment. Please try not to take too much notice of stories in the media – we will let you know as soon as we know something definite.
Latest Updates
HM Government guidance on schools and education during the coronavirus pandemic for parents and carers has been updated (19th April 2020). This update covers lots of information, including charges by childcare providers, alternative exam arrangements and more.
HM Government has published further guidance on how to stay safe online during COVID-19. The guidance includes a section for parents and carers, including parental controls, how to talk to children about staying safe online and health guidelines.
Let’s Have A…

Video Message
I hope you all have managed to see the video message that we put together for you all. If you haven’t then you can see it on the front page of the website. Thank you for the lovely, heartfelt messages that you have sent in to us about the video – it really has made us all very happy.
Phone Calls
Over the next two weeks, you might have a surprise phone call… 🙂
Sad News
It is with real sadness that I have to let you know that Dave Proctor, Mrs Homer’s dad who has volunteered in forest school for a number of years, has died. All of the children will have know Dave (or Mr Proctor as some children called him) and we will all remember him as a lovely, funny, compassionate man who had a huge impact in forest school.
It has obviously been an extremely difficult time for Mrs Homer and her family, but I am now able to share with you this very sad news. He had been poorly since Christmas and it is not related to Covid-19. His funeral is tomorrow, Monday 27th. In the current circumstances, we are not able to attend the funeral so we will be sending all our love, prayers and sympathies from a distance. If you can find a little quiet time tomorrow, then please send your thoughts, memories and prayers to the family. We will do something with the children when we are all back at school.
Please allow some time when telling your child the news, if you choose to do so. Children often react very differently to us as adults, or how we might expect them to react. There is some helpful information here. If you need to contact us, then please do so; we will help in any way we can.
God is our refuge and strength,
Psalm 46:1
an ever-present help in trouble.
Take care everyone, and stay safe
Mr Dunn
