Last week’s summer fayre was a great success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and everyone who came to support. We raised an amazing £4000.58!

Final PTA Event of the Year
The final PTA event of the year will be a school ‘break the rules day’. This will happen on Thursday 20th July. More details will follow.
School Logo
After many years, we have updated the Pedmore school logo. The current logo is nearly 30 years old so we felt it was time for an update! The new one keeps the keys, as our link to St Peter’s church, but has been brought up-to-date with a new, modern look. Here it is below:

Forest School Update
It’s been a busy few weeks in Forest school.
Year 4 have continued with their sessions, creating and building the most amazing plumbing systems in the mud pit.
Plus they have become competent and safe fire lighters. In small groups they built small fires, keep them going, toasted bread and safely extinguished them. Such a great achievement and they were very proud of themselves.
Year 6 had their last session this week. It’s always a day of mixed feelings as they enter their weeks of their ‘lasts’.
Most of these children I have taught since they were 3 so I get to know them pretty well and it’s always sad to see them go.
They were able to do all their favourite things in Forest School which of course included 1 last s’more!
I wish them all the luck in their new schools!
It was also lovely to open forest school at the summer fayre and it was great to see so many families come and visit!
Supporting the school and PTA through my business I always try to do where I can so it was great to give my time to be there.
Please do look on my social media pages for events over the summer.

Finally each year I evaluate the Forest school provision and would be really grateful if you could complete this short questionnaire for me.

Safeguarding Update
Water Safety
During the summer months it is likely that many pupils will be visiting the beach or swimming pools. It is essential that children are taught how to stay safe in and near water . It would be really helpful to talk through with your child how they can do this.
Stop and think – spot the dangers
It can be very cold
There may be hidden currents
It can be difficult to get out (steep slippery banks)
It can be deep
There may be hidden rubbish, e.g. shopping trolleys, broken glass
There may be no lifeguards there
It is difficult to estimate depth
It may be polluted and could make you ill.
Stay together
It is always better to go to the water with a friend or family member
Children should always go near water with an adult
Float
If you fall into the water unexpectedly – float until you can control your breathing.
Then call for help or swim to safety.
Call 999
You may be able to help yourself and others if you know what to do in an emergency.
If you see someone in difficulty, tell somebody, preferably a Lifeguard if there is one nearby, or go
to the nearest telephone, dial 999, ask for the Fire Service at inland water sites and the Coastguard
at the beach
