Here we are again at the end of another busy week. I am delighted to say that the rain, despite its best efforts, has not dampened our spirits (although I think we have all had enough of it now). I hope you all have a great (drier) weekend. See you next week for the last week before half term!

Clent Re-Sale

Please find here information in relation to the Parent/Carer Re-sale to be held on Saturday 11th November at 10am-12pm at Clent Parochial Primary School. If you’re free, go along and have a look – I’m sure there’ll be lots of bargains to be had.

Reception – People Who Help Us

Reception class were keep to learn all about different jobs and vehicles so what other way to start the year then with a ‘People Who Help Us’ topic! We have had a busy few weeks, with lots of visitors including a train driver, an optician, a physiotherapist, a doctor, a nurse, the police, an ambulance crew and a vet from the Safari Park. We learnt all about the different jobs, talked about uniform and also had a look at different equipment. Not only did we get to go in a police van and an ambulance, but we also had our eyes tested, looked at the controls inside a train, listened to each other’s heart beats, practised our breathing and held real life snakeskin, deer antlers, ostrich egg and frozen elephant poo (the class favourite!) Thank you to everyone who got in contact and either came into school or helped me organise our visitors!

PTA _ Easyfundraising – We Need Your Help.

With many of us thinking ahead to our Christmas shopping the PTA wanted to remind parents that we are part of a fundraising scheme which allows school to earn donations from your purchases. Easyfundraising partners with over 7,500 brands who will donate part of what you spend to a cause of your choice. It won’t cost you any extra. The cost is covered by the brand.

This is a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for the school! When you shop online, with over 7,500 of your favourite brands, including John Lewis & Partners, Amazon, eBay, notonthehighstreet, you will raise FREE donations for Pedmore CE Primary PTA. If you’re not already signed up, it only takes a few minutes, then you can begin using the easyfundraising website or app straightaway.

As part of an easyfundraising special offer for every new signup before the end of the 31st October Pedmore PTA will automatically receive a £2 donation. No purchasing is necessary and zero cost to you. £2 for simply signing up and selecting Pedmore CE Primary PTA as the cause you are supporting.

We would be so grateful for your efforts in signing up and using easyfundraising to support our school. See here for more details.

Work at School

Starting on Monday, we are having some windows and doors replaced around school. As part of a MAT, we are now able to bid for money for certain school improvements, which we have done – and we were successful! Shouldn’t affect day-to-day things in school too much, but your child may come back and tell you that they have seen some work/heard some noise.

Safeguarding – Protecting Children from Explicit Content

It is easy for any person, any age, to stumble across inappropriate and explicit content online and for parents this can be challenging. Internet Matters have a range of resources available to help parents including:

  • Tips and tools for website/content filtering.
  • What to do if your child sees explicit content.
  • Resources for further help and support.

You can see all the sections HERE.

Additionally, with everything that is going on around the world at the moment it’s important that everyone knows how to minimise the negative impact of what your children may be seeing. The Mental Health Foundation have put some advice together which i think would be very useful. You can find this HERE.

Craft and Chat

Details of a craft and chat sessions available at Dudley Library can be found here.
