Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break. Does anyone have any Easter eggs left? Hopefully, we are seeing more signs of Spring now, and hopefully those temperatures will continue to rise too. Don’t think the gardens need any more watering for a while!

Our School Vision
Over the past few months, we have been working with staff, governors and children to re-evaluate and refine our school vision. This is something that we believe and invest in, and shows what it is that our school is all about and incorporates our 4 core values. Our newly-refined school vision is below. We now say this during our acts of worship as our way of starting each assembly and coming together. The children, through Worship Council, have come up with actions to go with it. It really sums up an celebrates what Pedmore is all about.
“We flourish together as a Christian family through friendship and faith.
We value, trust and respect each other as diverse and unique children of God.
We nurture each other through happiness, compassion and forgiveness.
As Jesus taught us,
“Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:34) ”

Dance Academy
As many of you may know, Miss Cartwright is a qualified dance teacher. She has been running dance classes in Wombourne for many years, and is now starting one at Pedmore. More details can be found on this flyer.
Easter Celebration of Dance
On Wednesday 10th April, a group of dancers, choreographed by Miss Cartwright, performed at Stourbridge Town Hall. They were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed performing! Well done all.
“Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”
Hosea 6:3

Beegu in Year 1
Year 1 have been studying the book ‘Beegu’ by Alexis Deacon. In readiness for some descriptive writing, they’ve been creating their ideas of what their world might look like. See some examples below.
Happy News
This week’s copy of Happy News can be found here.
Utterly Dark and the Face of the Deep
Utterly was only a baby when she was found on the beach byy Wildsea’s watcher. But after he mysteriously dies, Utterly must take on the role of Watcher – to watch the ocean for the sea monster, the gorm. Although, maybe the enemy is not what she thinks…
This book is good for people who love action/fantasy books. I give it 10/10!
Betsy, Year 6.
Mr Dunn’s Challenge (written by Jack in Year 6, who told me I have to tell you all)
“I have some news to share with you all. I have taken up a sponsored April Challenge (to raise money for Cancer Research). I am completing 100 press-ups every day for the month of April. The challenge is staying strong so far – let’s hope I can last!”
I’m doing the press-ups in batches throughout the day (can’t manage 100 in one go!). Mrs Dowen has been laughing at me as I have been doing some in my office. Should anyone want to support this great cause, you can through the link below. Thanks Jack!

Safeguarding Update
An online safety reminder for you and your children.
Does your child have a PlayStation?
If so, have you set up appropriate parental controls?
Some examples of the parental controls available are:
- Set age restrictions,
- Set daily limits,
- Control chat and messaging,
- Set spend limits.
How can I block/report other players?
If your child is playing with other players, then please ensure they know how to report/block other players and to tell a trusted adult if they do come across anything upsetting or that they are unsure of.
This link details how to do this based on the device they have:
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/account/block-players-psn/
What games are suitable for my child?
PlayStation have included a list of games along with their age rating to help you find a game that may be appropriate for your child to play.
https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/editorial/great-ps4-games-for-kidsand-families/
Whilst age ratings do allow you to see if a game may be appropriate, it is also important to review the game yourself and see if it includes additional features such as chat. This will allow you to make an informed decision as to whether it is suitable and if you need to apply further parental controls.
