Enjoy and Achieve
Learning should be fun
We take every opportunity to take the learning out of the classroom into the school grounds, local area or further afield. Enrichment though trips and regular focus days give children an opportunity to work in different classes to apply their learning in a range of practical and challenging activities. They often enjoy dressing up for the day too! Forest School, London residential, and a PGL residential adventure week also give children lasting memories of their time at Pedmore.
Every child is an individual
We take great care in regularly assessing each child’s individual learning needs and planning our teaching to ensure each child progresses. Key skills of reading, writing and numeracy are essential and we focus on each child learning and applying these skills in a range of interesting topics throughout the school.
Working in close partnerships with parents and carers
We involve parents in their child’s learning from the outset. A full programme of focus events for parents take place, from induction and sharing learning journeys in Reception, through to extended Mathematics in Key Stage 2. Regular parents’ evenings, where children’s progress and targets are shared, give opportunities for teachers and parents to discuss the best strategies to support their child. School reports are sent home annually. Dialogue between parents and teachers is valued at all times of the year.
Curriculum Newsletters are sent home each term outlining the planned curriculum for the term and ways in which parents can support the work taking place in school.
